Our History

Morrow Bible Church began in 1983 because of the need for a Bible-preaching church in Morrow County, Ohio that would be committed to rightly reflecting the the character of God and preserving the essential truths of the Scripture without compromise.

Picture1A few believers began meeting in the home of Marvin Gassman at Peniel Bible Camp in the Fall of 1982 for a Wednesday night Bible study. This group later started regular church services in the Gassmans’ home on May 1, 1983. People visiting this “house church” were surprised to find a formal worship setting. Church pews were purchased at an auction, and the living room became a permanent sanctuary. For the next five years, Morrow Bible Church met in this home. In spite of the humble beginnings and times of discouragement, God built and strengthened this assembly.

Picture2As the church grew, the Lord provided another facility–a church building that had been abandoned years earlier by the Methodist church. In the Fall of 1987, Morrow Bible Church purchased the building for $4,000. Though the building required much work over the next months, Morrow Bible Church held its first service in the new building on Resurrection Sunday, 1988.

Picture3Seeing the need to plan for additional expansion, three and one half acres of land adjoining their property on the north were purchased in 2001. In August of 2004 construction began on an addition to provide a new foyer, two new classrooms, an office, larger restroom facilities and an elevator for handicap access to both the upstairs sanctuary and the downstairs fellowship hall. By the Lord’s grace, this addition was completed and paid for by August of 2005.

Picture4The new addition was planned to facilitate both the old building and a new sanctuary that would be added at its north wall. Morrow Bible Church continues to looking for the leading and provision of the Lord before taking this next step.

Praise the Lord for the many who have come to know the Savior, and have grown in their walk with Him because of the ministry of Morrow Bible Church. Pray that Morrow Bible Church will remain usable for His glory until He comes again.
