Leadership

We are led by a plurality of elders who meet the spiritual qualifications and carry out the responsibilities of 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Elders are elected by the congregation to serve three-year terms. Currently, the elders of Morrow Bible Church are Stephen Howard (Pastor), Al Rhea, and Steve Lewis.

Stephen Howard, Pastor

Pastor Howard grew up in Ohio and is glad to be here serving the Lord. He was raised in a Christian home. As a young child, he put his faith in Jesus Christ.

He graduated from Bob Jones University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and from BJU Seminary in 2011 with a Master of Divinity.

He then served four years as Assistant Pastor at Morrow Bible Church under Pastor Marvin Gassman. He was ordained to Gospel ministry in 2014. He was called by the congregation to serve as Pastor of Morrow Bible Church, and has served in that position since January 2015.

Pastor Howard is a member of the Ohio Bible Fellowship, a group of independent, fundamental Bible-believing pastors and churches in Ohio. He also serves on the board of the Ohio Bible Mission.

He and his wife, Jenny, have four daughters.

Marvin Gassman, Pastor Emeritus

An Ohio native (Stark County), Pastor Gassman graduated from John Brown University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, and finished his formal education at Faith Theological Seminary near Philadelphia, PA in the spring of 1969. He and his wife, Beverly, then moved to Morrow County, Ohio to serve with the Ohio Bible Mission at Peniel Bible Camp near Chesterville, Ohio.

Morrow Bible Church started in Pastor Gassman’s home at Peniel Bible Camp in 1983. He continued to serve both the church and the camp until 1998 when he transitioned from the camping ministry to serve Morrow Bible Church full time. In 2015, Pastor Gassman stepped down from the Senior Pastor position, and the church called him to continue ministry as Pastor Emeritus.

For more than 50 years, he has served in various capacities in the ministry of Peniel Bible Camp. He is a member of the Ohio Bible Fellowship and serves on the board of the Ohio Bible Mission.

The Gassmans have four daughters and twelve grandchildren.
